Annapurna Pictures has large designs for TERMINATOR 5. In kind of wacky, fun and weird news, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been linked to joining Arnold Schwarzenegger in the next sequel. Clearly, his Hollywood takeover is nigh complete.
All of this is largely rumor, but it appears that there is a version of the script being specifically tailored to Dwayne Johnson, who would play one of the infernal robotic killers. There’s also a lot of new info on what the plot might look like. Apparently, T5 may be a prequel set in the time of Sarah Connor’s parents, when Terminators go back even further to take care of their mission.
Another theory is that Schwarzenegger may not be playing the Terminator in the film, but a heroic human aiding the Connor family, and that his ability to protect them inspires the machines to develop a terminator in his likeness that then was sent to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor.
Sounds wacky, but if we’re going to be undergoing another TERMINATOR, I’m all for giving it a new spin and some new plot developments, and having Arnold not playing the machine makes sense at this point. For the full rundown, go here.
